Sight Stories
Responsible parents
Shikha a 4-months old baby girl was brought by her father on March 24, 2007 from village Mutehara of district Balrampur. She was referred by our vision center in Khalilabad to the base hospital due to severe refractive error. Her parents came to know about her vision problem when she was not responding to any movement even close to her eyes. After the examination at the base hospital she was prescribed spectacles which helped her to improve her vision. She could recognize the movements and pay attention to objects around her. This gave Shikha’s father a sense of relief and brought smile on his face. Such kind of timely and early detection of eye problems in children by their parents can prevent many children from going blind or near blind. Shikha was advised to come for follow up visit time to time so that necessary corrections and treatment can be provided for further improving her vision.
...I am back to work
Om Prakash aged 60 years came from a village called Shivpur of district Basti. He works as a labour to earn his living. Suddenly while working both his eyes became red and he was not able to see properly through either of his eyes. After undergoing examination at the hospital he was found to have lost his right eye and his left eye was treated by performing various complex surgical procedures on the Retina. All this was provided entirely free-of-cost to him by the hospital as being a poor man he could not afford the cost of such expensive and sophisticated services. Om Prakash is now able to see through his one and only left eye. He comes for regularly follow up check ups to the hospital to ensure proper care of his eye.
